your first lesson
Your first driving lesson is something most people never forget. At In Car Education we understand how nerve-wracking it can be to drive a car for the first time, so to help you understand a little more of what is involved, here is a rough guide to what you can expect.
We will come and collect you. You will need to have both parts of your provisional licence with you, so have them ready before your lesson. Your instructor will then take you to a safe location which will be suitable for your first lesson. This is likely to be a fairly quiet, straightforward piece of road. During the journey to the safe location, your instructor will most likely ask you a few questions to find out if you have had any experience of driving or using the roads before. There is no wrong answer to these questions, so don’t worry if you have no experience whatsoever, it’s just to help tailor the first lesson to your needs.
On arrival at the safe location, you will move to the driver’s seat. The instructor will then go through the safety precautions you should carry out on entering the car and explain how each of the controls works. If you don’t understand anything which is being said, don’t be afraid to ask. The instructor will be more than happy to go over anything which you haven’t understood.
Once the controls have been covered and you’ve understood what has been said, it will be time to start driving. Your instructor will explain how to start the car and you will start with some very basic exercises to get the car to move and stop. After that, what happens is down to how well you get on and how comfortable you’re feeling. You may take to it like a duck to water and do a number of other exercises in that first lesson, or you may take a little longer to get to grips with it all. Either way, just relax and enjoy it!!!
